Dr. Sharrié Vereen, Ed.D was born and raised in Riviera Beach, Florida.  One of her earliest memories is taking on the role of teacher utilizing her Fisher-Price® chalkboard while convincing her younger family members to be students.  While being enrolled at Palm Beach Lakes High School in the Teacher Academy, Sharrié became a 2004 Pathfinder Award winner for her community involvement and work with youth in Palm Beach County.

Sharrié continued her scholastic journey to The Florida State University to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.  While in attendance, she became a member of SISTUHS, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta, Sorority Inc. and a host of honor societies.   She also holds a master’s in educational leadership from Columbus State University and a Doctorate in Special Education from the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Vereen has been in education for 17 years and Chief Executive Officer of the Sandbox Advocate, Incorporated. The Sandbox is a 501c3 organization that was founded due to a need for families to have knowledgeable support while advocating for their children. It is their goal to promote collaboration between service providers, community stakeholders and families.

 When not advocating for children and families, Dr. Vereen has many pursuits and passions, but she believes strongly in serving her local community. She prides herself on spending time with those she loves, including her dog Phoenix, traveling and reading in her leisure time.
